Ingredients

Banana and Caramel Topping

Instructions

  • Prepare your baking dish or pan for nonstick.
  • Make the caramel sauce. In a medium skillet on medium heat, melt the butter, brown sugar, and heavy cream. Use a whisk to mix the ingredients as they cook.
Once the brown sugar is completely dissolved you can remove the skillet from the heat and whisk in the vanilla extract.
  • Evenly distribute the caramel sauce to the pan that you prepared in the first step.
Layer the sliced bananas over the caramel sauce and then layer half of the cubed bread pieces over the bananas.
Evenly distribute the cream cheese and chopped pecans over the bread cubes. Then cover this with the remaining bread cubes.
  • In a medium bowl, use a clean whisk to combine together the eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla, and cinnamon.
Then, pour the egg mixture over the bread cubes.
Lastly, cover casserole with foil or plastic wrap and refrigerate for 8 hours (overnight).
  • When you are ready to bake to bake the casserole, remove it from refrigerator and then leave it out on the counter for 30 minutes to get to room temperature. Also, preheat your oven to 350.
  • Cover with foil and bake the casserole for 30 minutes. Then remove the foil cover and bake for an addition 15-20 minutes or until center of the casserole is set.
Allow the casserole to cool in the pan for 10 minutes at room temperature.
  • To serve: Carefully flip the casserole over into a serving dish so that the caramel and banana are on the top. Slice and enjoy!
