Preheat your oven to 350 and prep a square baking dish.
In a medium bowl, mix together the cocoa powder, flour, and baking powder.
Next, in a mixing bowl, beat together the sugar and butter until creamy. Then add the eggs and vanilla extract.
Add in the dry ingredients from the first bowl to the ingredients in the mixing bowl and mix until just combined.
Bake the brownies for 25 to 30 minutes or a toothpick comes out clean. Allow the brownies to fully cool before cutting and decorating.
Cut the brownies into 12 equal rectangles.
Start by carefully pressing an edible eye into each of the brownies. Make sure that you leave enough edge space to draw circles around the eyes.
Next, using the black decorating gel, draw a circle around each of the candy eyes.Lastly, use the decorating gel to make marks along the left side of the brownie from top to bottom to resemble the book seams.
