Oreo Cheesecake Truffle Ornament is a fun and tasty idea.

I really like how easy it is to make these truffles too!

    Oreo Cheesecake Truffle Ornament

This is a simple recipe idea for making a truffle candy using a sandwich cookie.
The truffle candy is then decorated to look like a Christmas tree ornament.

Have you tried my No Bake Pumpkin Spice Truffles?

That pumpkin truffle recipe is a bit more simple to make than this one is.
However, both truffles would look great when presented together on a holiday dessert table.

These truffles are coated with white chocolate. You can find white candy melts here that you can use to coat your truffles with.

You may be wondering what are truffle balls made of.

This recipe for ornaments is based upon a basic truffle ball recipe.
The truffle balls will be decorated to look like Christmas tree ornaments.

Most truffle balls have two common parts to them.
There is the crunchy part, such as the sandwich cookie that we are using in this recipe.
And there is the 'glue' or binding ingredient that holds everything together.

This idea is for anyone asking how do you make edible ornaments.

Let me start by saying that I would not recommend that you hang these ornament truffles on a tree.
These truffles are meant to be eaten and not displayed on a tree.

These edible ornaments are best when displayed on a plate or platter.

If you are interested in a tree to display these truffles on, try using a tree shaped platter.
You can find tree shaped platters here.

    Tips for making Oreo Truffles.

These ornament truffles need refrigeration. This is because we are using cream cheese to bind the other ingredients together.

    More tips for you.

    1. When dipping the the truffles in the chocolate, try using two plastic forks or spoons. Removing the inner prongs of the fork is a good way to hold on to the truffles.
    2. Use a regular stuffed sandwich cookie as opposed to the 'double stuffed' kind. Using too much filling can get a bit too messy for this idea.
    3. Refrigerated the dough before forming the truffle balls is recommended. This is because it helps the mixture stay together better.

    Personalize these edible ornaments.

This is a cute and yummy idea for a holiday treat just the way they are.
However, you can make these even better.

    Try one of these ideas.

    • Add a few drops of food coloring to make the ornaments colorful.
    • Instead of using white chocolate, use regular chocolate.
    • Try using another kind of sandwich cookie such as a peanut butter sandwich cookie.

How to make Oreo Cheesecake Truffle Ornament

    Step One: prepare.

Line a rimmed baking sheet (that can fit into a freezer) with wax paper or parchment paper.
Pull the licorice pieces apart from one another.
Remove the wrapping from the peanut butter cups.

    Step Two: make the truffles.
Start by crushing 10 of the cookies. This can be done in a zip top bag, food processor or blender. The cookies should be crushed into crumbs. Then transfer the crushed cookies to a mixing bowl.

Add the softened cream cheese to the mixing bowl and combine it with the cookie crumbs.
The mixture should resemble a large 'blob' or paste when done.

Use a cookie scoop to scoop the mixture into balls. Place the balls on to the prepared baking sheet.
Place the baking sheet in the freezer for 20 minutes.

Step Three: coat and decorate the ornaments.

Melt the candy wafers as indicated on the packaging. The melted wafers should be smooth but, not runny.
Transfer the melted chocolate to a shallow bowl.

Slide a sturdy toothpick through the center of the peanut butter cup and then through the first chocolate truffle ball. Dip the truffle ball end into the melted chocolate. You can use a spoon as needed to help guide things.

Immediately add sprinkles to the chocolate coating.
Then press the peanut butter cup into the chocolate so that the cup can stick to the truffle.
Carefully remove the toothpick replace it with the licorice so that it forms a loop. Place the finished ornament back on to the baking sheet.

Repeat until all of the truffles have been decorated.
Then refrigerate for at least 20 minutes to set.

These edible ornaments should be refrigerated.
