    Melted Snowman Cupcakes

This is a fun idea for a frosted holiday season cupcake dessert.
The melting snowman on top adds to the enjoyment of this recipe idea.

Have you tried my recipe for Strawberry Christmas Tree Treats?

That recipe idea is another fun holiday inspired treat.
Both this cupcake and those tree treats would look great on a holiday dessert table or party table!

These cupcakes look even cuter when you add some holiday decorations to them. You can find holiday inspired edible cupcake decorations here.

People sometimes ask how do you make a melted snowman.

Obviously, if it is an actual snow made snowman, you would know how to make it a melted snowman.
You would simply need to expose the snowman to some kind of warmth to see it turn to water.

However, the melted snowman that goes on top of this dessert is something different.

Our snowman is made using a marshmallow.
When the marshmallow starts to 'melt' and he (or she) gets decorated, you get that melted snowman topping. YAY!!

    About these easy Christmas cupcakes.

This is really an easy recipe to make.
The cupcake portion of this is a basic chocolate cupcake recipe.

The topping is what makes this cupcake treat more interesting.
We will first frost the cupcakes using a basic royal icing recipe.
Then we will decorate our cupcakes to make them look like those cute snowmen.

Tips for making these holiday cupcakes.

Separating a bit of the icing into small cups gives you the opportunity to add a bit of different colored food coloring to each small cup. You can then use the colors to decorate your snowmen.

    More tips for you

    1. Make these cupcakes festive by using Christmas cupcake liners.
    2. Skip the homemade cupcake recipe. You can use a cupcake mix or store bought cupcakes instead.
    3. Make these cupcakes into mini snowmen cupcakes. Simply use mini marshmallows and a small cupcake pan.

    Personalize these holiday cupcakes.

These cupcakes are cute and tasty just the way they are.
However, you can make them even better.

    Try one of these ideas.

    • Add an edible hat to your marshmallows.
    • Use colorful marshmallows for your snow people.
    • Add icing 'hair' to make your snowmen snowwomen instead.

    How to make Royal Icing.

The icing is used to both attach the marshmallow to the cupcake and to add to the decoration.
Well, the icing also adds flavor to the cupcakes too 🙂 .

    For the Royal Icing:

Blend together one egg white with 1 ⅓ cups of powdered sugar.
Add lemon juice until you reach your desired consistency (up to three tablespoons total lemon juice).

How to make Melted Snowman Cupcakes

    Step One: preparation.

Prepare the muffin pan for nonstick. You can use cupcake liners.

    Preheat the oven to 350.

    Step Two: make the cupcakes.

In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, unsweetened cocoa powder, and the baking powder.
Next, in a mixing bowl, beat together the sugar and the vegetable oil until smooth. Then beat in the eggs, milk and the vanilla extract.

Lastly, mix in the dry ingredients from the first bowl until just combined.
Bake the cupcakes for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.

    Step Three: decorate the cupcakes.

Allow the cupcakes to fully cool before decorating.

Drip the royal icing over the cupcakes to form a 'puddle' (that represents a melting snowman).
Then place a marshmallow at the backend of the icing puddle.
Decorate your cupcake as desired to look like a snowman.
