How to make Christmas trees made out of strawberries.
Step One: prepare the strawberries.
Rinse the strawberries and allow for them to dry out.
Then cut off the top from each strawberry to make a flat surface that can attach to the cookie base.
Step Two: decorate the strawberry treats.
Start by melting the white chocolate according to the instructions on the packaging.
Add coconut oil as needed to smooth out the chocolate.
Then stir in enough drops of food coloring to make the white chocolate green for a tree.
Prep a rimmed baking sheet that can fit into the refrigerator with wax paper or parchment paper.
Place each cookie on to the sheet leaving plenty of room between each cookie.
Stick a toothpick into the center of the first strawberry on the flat end that you just cut off.
You will use the toothpick to dip the strawberries into the chocolate.
Dip the first strawberry into the chocolate to cover the top of the strawberry (pointed side). Give the strawberry a quick shake to get rid of excess chocolate and then sprinkle decorations on top of the chocolate. Hold on to the toothpick with one hand as the strawberry dries and with the other hand place a small amount of chocolate on the first cookie. This will be the 'glue' that holds the strawberry on to the cookie. Then carefully transfer the strawberry on to the cookie with the flat sides meeting.
Repeat with the remaining strawberries.
Step Three: set the trees.
Transfer the cookie trees to the refrigerator and allow to set.
