    DIY Lavender Stuffed Lamb

This is a simple project for making a stuffed lamb.

The lamb can be stuffed with dried lavender and used as a sachet or for display.

Did you see my article about Fun Camping Activities that Kids Like

That article includes some fun family ideas that you can do during your downtime while camping or anytime. This craft project is just another idea of something that kids can do during downtime as well.

If you are going to share this project with a child, you can have the child use sewing needles that are made especially for kids. You can find craft and sewing needles for kids here.

This project is especially for anyone asking what are some beginner sewing projects.

I like that this project is really simple to do. While it is suitable for kids, adults can also make this adorable project.

There are three parts for making this project.

First you will need to download the template (scroll down). Then you can trace the pieces, cut out the felt, and construct the craft.

What can you do with a stuffed craft project?

These lambs are super cute for display. I like that you can just place them on a shelf and enjoy the scent.

However, there are more possible uses for this lamb craft project.

    • Use this as a sachet and place it into a drawer.
    • Attach a magnet to the back and use the lamb as a decoration on your refrigerator.
    • Make several lambs and construct a mobile for a baby.
    • Attach a string to the lamb and hang it in your car or from a doorknob.
    • Use this lamb as a card to give to someone.

Tips for making this homemade craft idea.

As mentioned, this craft idea is good for many ages. However, you may need to make modifications for some folks.

    More tips for you

    1. If a child will be making this project, who will be using a plastic or child-safe needle, you may want to help make the holes for sewing through larger. You can use a large needle to pre-make the holes for sewing.
    2. Also, a child may need adult help with the template. This includes tracing and cutting the pieces out.
    3. While sewing the main pieces together is how my lamb was made, you could alternatively use glue. A tacky glue could work for this project.

    Personalize this lamb project.

Yes, this lamb is cute the way it is. However, you could make yours even more interesting.

    Try one of these ideas.

    • Instead of using dried lavender, use another scent such as dried mint.
    • Instead of gluing on the decorations you can simply use markers to draw the details on. Do this before sewing the pieces together for best results.
    • My lamb is white with a peach face and legs. Yours however can be any colors that you choose to use!

How to make this DIY Lavender Stuffed Lamb .

    Step One: Prepare.

Download the DIY Lavender Stuffed Lamb Template

Download the template. I like to print out templates using a thicker paper such as cardstock when I will be tracing and cutting. Then cut out the objects from the downloaded template.

Step Two: trace and cut out the pieces of the lamb.

    1. Trace and cut out the largest piece which will be the body. Mine is on the white felt.
    2. Then trace and cut out other elements from the same piece of felt. My lamb has the top of the head the same color as the body, white, so mine has been cut out with the body from the same piece of felt.
    3. Finish tracing and cutting out the remaining elements from the template using the other colors. This includes the legs, face, and ears.

    Step Three: assemble the lamb.

    1. On one piece of the head you will need to make a face. My eye, nose, and mouth have been sewn on. However, you can use tacky glue to attach yours or even a market can be used instead.
    2. The legs and the head are two pieces of felt that have been sewn together in my lamb. You can simply use one piece if you want to save time. Otherwise, sew the legs pieces and head pieces together.
    3. Place the two white pieces back to back. We will now sew the pieces together, leaving space at the bottom to both stuff the lamb and attach the legs. Start sewing from the bottom left corner and sew clockwise until you reach the bottom right corner, leave the bottom open.
    4. Use a spoon to stuff the lamb with the lavender, do not over-stuff. Then, continue to sew the lamb up, placing the legs in the opening as needed to attach them as well. Make this step easier by using the tacky glue to glue the legs in place first. Then you will just need to sew the bottom of the body together after stuffing in.

    Step Four: Finish the lamb.

Finish added the remaining details to the lamb. This includes the cute bow 🙂 .
