This is a recipe for white chocolate covered pretzels.
The chocolate has peppermint added to it for additional flavor.

Have you tried my Peppermint White Hot Chocolate recipe?

That hot chocolate recipe has a similar flavor to this pretzel recipe.
Both minty treats would probably go nicely together!

These pretzels can look even better with sprinkles on top. You can find variety of sprinkles for all kinds of occasions here.

This recipe is especially for anyone asking what can you do with pretzels.

I get that pretzels are perfect just the way that they are.
That mixture of salt and crunch can certainly get me through a hungry moment.
But, there are ways to celebrate that salty crunch in other ways.
Coating the pretzels with chocolate introduces a sweet flavor to go along with that salty crunch.
Adding a bit of peppermint just seems to enhance that flavor too!

You may be wondering what kind of pretzels are best for recipes.

Sometimes a recipe using pretzels works best with large, rod type, pretzels.
Those kinds of recipes seem to feature a single pretzel at a time- which is not a bad thing.

This recipe for chocolate covered pretzels is meant to be in between that large pretzel and a tiny snack sized pretzels.

The pretzels that I have used for this recipe are the kind that you may eat one at a time but, eating one or a few more afterwards.
However, in this recipe you can certainly use the pretzels of your choice.

Tips for making chocolate covered pretzels.

I have added the peppermint extract to this recipe just to make it a bit more fun.
Feel free to exclude the peppermint from yours or use another extract instead.

    More helpful tips for you.

    1. Adding a bit of food coloring to your white chocolate can make your pretzels even more colorful. You can even separate the the melted which chocolate into more than one color for a variety.
    2. If your chocolate starts to get too thick when dipping, or even before, you can heat it back up for a few more seconds. If heating the chocolate does not , you can add just a touch (teaspoon) more coconut oil.
    3. My pretzels have a colorful icing drizzled over them. This is optional however, a nice touch when you are making these pretzels for a holiday or celebration.

    Personalize your white chocolate pretzels.

Yes, this is a simple recipe that is great just the way that it is.
However, you can choose to make yours even better.
    Try one of these ideas.

    • Sprinkle some chopped nuts on top of the chocolate as it dries.
    • Add potato chips to the mix too.
    • Sprinkles are always a fun decorating idea to me!

About this recipe for white chocolate covered pretzels.

This is really a simple recipe for white chocolate covered pretzels.
To make this recipe we will need to melt the chocolate first.

I always tell people to follow the melting directions on the packaging when it comes to melting chocolate.

Using a microwave is an efficient way to melt chocolate.
I stop the microwave every 30 seconds to stir the melting chocolate until it is smooth.
Adding a bit of coconut oil can also help smooth the chocolate out.

How to make Peppermint White Chocolate Covered Pretzels.

    Step One prepare.

Line one or two rimmed baking sheets with parchment paper.
Select pretzels that are whole and in good condition.

    Step Two:melt the chocolate.

It is always best to follow the directions on the packaging for how to melt the chocolate.

I like to place the white chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl and microwave on high until melted, stopping every 30 seconds to stir for even melting.

Once the chocolate has fully melted, stir in the coconut oil until fully blended.
    Then stir in the extract.
Place the melted chocolate in a bowl that can be used for dipping into if the bowl that you used to melt in is not suitable.

Step Three: finish making the chocolate covered pretzels.

Carefully use a fork in one hand to pick up the first pretzel. A spoon can be used if your pretzels are not looped. Dip the pretzel into the chocolate and using a spoon in the other hand, guide the melted chocolate around the pretzel. Give the pretzel a quick shake over the bowl to release any dripping chocolate and then place the pretzel on to the prepared baking sheet.

When all of the pretzels are covered in chocolate you can add any optional toppings and then refrigerate (10-15 minutes) until the chocolate is hard before serving.
