About this adorable Toilet Paper Roll Leprechaun
This is a simple craft idea for turning an empty cardboard roll into a leprechaun.
To make this project you will need to cut elements out of construction paper and then glue them on to the roll.
What can you do with this craft idea?
- Fill the tube with candy to give as a gift.
- Place him on a shelf or table to use as a decoration.
- Write names on the rolls to use as a table setting.
Materials needed to make a TP Roll Leprechaun.
- Toilet Paper Roll. The roll should be empty and in good condition.
- Construction paper. Beige, green, black, and gold construction paper.
- Orange Foam Board (as thin as possible). Feel free to use cardstock or something similar to make the beard with.
- Small Pom Poms. Black for the feet and pink for the nose.
- Googly eyes. Smaller ones work best.
- Also, pencil, scissors, glue stick or glue, an orange marker (freckles) and a black marker (mouth).
How to make this Toilet Paper Roll Leprechaun Craft DIY.
Step One prepare.
Assemble the materials needed to make this project. Make sure that you have the materials needed as well as an empty toilet paper roll that is in good shape.
Step Two: make the body.
- For the head. Cut a rectangular piece of the beige paper that is ⅓" of the length of the empty roll. Glue this on to the top third as it will be the head.
- And for the body. Cut a piece of green paper that is ⅔ of the roll in height and the circumference of the roll in width. Then glue the green paper it place below the beige paper.
- For the hair. Cut out a piece of the foam board that is ¼ the length of the roll itself. Glue this on to the back of the head (beige).
- On the same orange, cut out the beard. Glue the beard in place.
Expert tip 👉 To freestyle cut the beard balanced, first fold the orange in half lengthwise before cutting out a "U" from the center top and the wavy edges on the sides.
Step Three: add the details.
- Glue the nose on to the center of the face. Then glue the eyes just above and on the side of the nose.
- Draw on the facial features (mouth, freckles, and eyebrows).
- For the belt and hat detail, cut out a strip of black paper and glue a gold rectangle on the center before attaching them.
- To make the hat, first cut a wide piece of green paper that will extend above the head. You can use a small can to trace the outer brim and the roll itself to trace the center hole. Lastly, attache the detail strap.
- Glue on the black pom poms for the feet.
- The arms are made using two strips of green paper that have hands that are made from the beige paper.
