    Yummy Cheeseburger Cupcakes

This is a simple recipe for turning basic cupcakes into 'fake' cheeseburgers.
These tasty cupcakes are perfect for birthday parties, gatherings, and especially for summer gatherings.

Did you see my Easy Sunflower Cupcakes?

Those sunflower cupcakes are another cute idea for decorated cupcakes.
Both these burger cupcakes and those sunflower cupcakes would go nicely together when served at a party or gathering.

Make these cupcake burgers super-sized. You can find large cupcake pan here that could work with this recipe.

You may be wondering, how to make a cupcake look like a hamburger.

Like me, you may be surprised at how easy it is to make a cupcake look like a burger.
I like that there are a few hacks or 'cheats' that make this recipe idea even easier.

To make this recipe you will need simple cupcakes.

You can make these cupcakes using your favorite recipe or using a boxed cupcake mix as indicated in the ingredients below. Make this recipe DIY even easier by using store bought cupcakes instead!

What is the secret for making cheeseburger cupcakes tasty?

I like that these cupcakes are colorful and actually look like hamburgers.
Really, the looks of these yummy burgers is what I notice first.

However, because after we are done looking at these cupcake burgers, and taking pictures of them too, we will eat them up.

Taste can be just as important as looks. As a result, we need to use tasty food flavors to make these and those tasty flavors should also taste good together.

    Tips for making cupcakes.

Bake the cupcakes according to the directions on the packaging. Then allow the cupcakes to fully cool before assembling the burgers.

    More tips for you

    1. While I am using mini chocolate donuts to make the burgers, there are other options. You can use brownies that are cut into 'meat patties' using a round cookie cutter for example.
    2. Yes, you can use cupcake liners to bake the cupcakes in. However, since you will need to peel the liners away from the cupcakes to assemble the burgers, I suggest that you do not use the liners and prep the cupcake pans well for nonstick instead.
    3. When slicing the cupcakes to make the 'bun' use a jagged edged bread knife if possible. This will help make a cleaner cut to get a more 'bun-like' look.

    Personalize your cupcakes.

Yes, these burgers are really cute just the way they are.
However, you can make yours look even better!

    Try one of these ideas.

    • Instead of yellow cake mix use a dark cake mix to make 'pumpernickel' buns. Or a combination of the the two mixes to make a 'marble' bun.
    • Add one of those toothpick flags or burger picks to your burgers..
    • Serve your burgers with a side of candy fries! 😄

Assembling the layers of the cheeseburger.

How to make Yummy Cheeseburger Cupcakes

    Step One: make the cupcakes.

Prepare the cupcakes as indicated on the packaging. I suggest that you use a very well prepped cupcake pan rather than liners. Allow the cupcakes to fully cool.

Step Two: Prepare the ingredients for assembly.

    • Cut the cooled cupcakes in half, from side to side ( horizontally ), to make the buns.
    • Make lettuce shred by tossing the shredded coconut with the green food coloring. Glove your hands if you intend to touch the food coloring.
    • Slice the donuts side to side ( horizontally ) to make the burger patties. Each donut will make two patties.

Step Three: assemble the burger cupcakes.

    • Start with the bottom layer which is actually the bottom half of the cut cupcake. Place the green shredded coconut on top of this.
    • Next, place the cut donut, aka the burger patty, on top of the coconut. One top of the coconut place a slice from the donut to serve as the patty.
    • Top the donut patty with the condiments. Use the orange frosting in a piping bag to make a square of 'cheese', letting the corners melt down over the patty . Then use the red frosting in a piping bag to drizzle on ketchup
    • Lastly, place the top bun (cupcake top half) on of the condiments and sprinkle sesame seed mix on top of the bun.
