- Sometimes dried fruit such as cranberries. When this happens I like to soak my dried fruit in hot water for five to ten minutes to help plump them up a bit ( be sure to squeeze out the excess water).

- Flour. All purpose flour was used to make my cookies.
- Baking Soda. A small amount is used for leavening.
- Salt. If you are using salted butter you can omit the salt.
- Butter. Your butter should be softened to room temperature. If you are using unsalted butter, ass the salt as indicated.
- Granulated and Brown Sugar. Both kinds of sugar are added for sweetness and to help with the moisture in these cookies.
- Vanilla Extract. Really, you can sub in another extract, such as eggnog extract (yes, this does exist! 🙂 ) for a more festive flavor.
