You can eat this ice cream as is or enjoy it with a bit of chocolate sauce or whipped topping!

Did you see my recipe for How to Make Mason Jar Ice Cream ?

That mason jar recipe idea is another easy way to make ice cream. Both this cookie dough ice cream and that mason jar ice cream would go nicely when served together.

Homemade ice cream works great when you use a loaf pan. You can find a variety of loaf pans for ice cream here .

    What does 'no churn' mean?

Because this is a 'no churn' recipe, you do not need an ice cream maker or churn to thicken or bind the ingredients. Instead, we are simply using a mixer to integrate the ingredients and then a freezer to help the ice cream thicken enough to eat.

Is it okay to eat raw cookie dough in ice cream?

This recipe does not contain eggs. However, it does contain flour and flour is not necessarily safe to eat raw. As a result, you will need to briefly bake the flour or use a safer flour such as almond flour.

How long will homemade ice cream keep?

This ice cream should be stored in an airtight container and in the freezer. If properly stored, it should keep for up to a month.

Also, how do you serve homemade cookie dough ice cream.

Remove the ice cream from the freezer and allow it to sit for about five minutes uncovered to soften. The serve the ice cream alone or with some whipped topping on top

Tips for making no churn ice cream.

This recipe uses flour which needs to be baked in order to eat it raw. However, you can use almond flour which can be consumed raw.

    More tips for you.

    1. The cookie dough potion of this recipe uses chocolate chips. Any chocolate chip should work in this recipe however, mini or milk chocolate chips are softer and may be easier for some to eat when cold.
    2. This recipe works best when a metal loaf pan is used. Metal is able to conduct the cold evenly and quickly when the ice cream is placed into the freezer to set. Can you use glass or plastic? Yes....but, metal pans work best.
    3. This recipe has no added eggs in it. This includes the cookie dough.
    4. Using a mixing bowl that has sat in the freezer for a few minutes before whipping the cream. This will help facilitate the process.

Personalize this cookie dough ice cream.

This recipe is really tasty just the way it is .
However, you can make your cookie dough recipe even better.

    Try one of these ideas.

    • Add chopped nuts to your ice cream.
    • Place this ice cream between two cookies to make a cookie sandwich.
    • Fold in some dried fruit such as raisins.
    • Instead of making cookie dough, simple use cookie chunks from cookies that you may have on hand already.

How to make No Churn Cookie Dough Ice Cream

Cookie Dough Ice Cream (Yields 1 quart)
    Prep time: 1 hour
    Freeze time: 6-8 hours

Step One: make the cookie dough.

    1. Start by baking the flour on a rimmed baking sheet at 350 for five minutes. Alternatively, you can use almond flour and skip this step. Allow the flour to cool to room temperature (should not take long to do).
    2. Meanwhile, in a mixing bowl, beat together the brown sugar, butter, and regular sugar until creamy.
    3. Stir in the vanilla and the flour once it has cooled to room temperature.
    4. Lastly, fold in the chocolate chips.
    5. To make the cookie dough chunks, use a small scoop or spoon to pull the chunks of dough from the mixing bowl. Then roll the chunks into shape using your hands.
    6. Place the cookie dough chunks into the refrigerator to set.

Step Two: make the ice cream.

      1. In mixing bowl, with a mixer outfitted with a whisk attachment, whisk the heavy cream until soft peaks just begin to form. Do not oven whisk to the point of firm peaks.
      2. Stir in the sugar and vanilla until just combined.
      3. Now, use a rubber spatula to carefully fold in the chocolate chip cookie dough chunks.

Step Three: finish making the ice cream.

Transfer the ingredients to a loaf pan and cover with plastic or similar wrap. The place the loaf pan into the freezer for at least six hours, preferably overnight.
