This is a white chocolate puppy chow without peanut butter recipe.

Sometimes peanut butter can be added to a puppy chow or muddy buddy recipe.
Peanut butter can be added for both flavor and to add a creamy source of fat.

I find that peanut butter can be kind of messy in a recipe such as this one.

Also, not everyone wants peanut butter in their snack mix for various reasons.
Let me just mention that I have nothing personal against peanut butter.

Is muddy buddy the same as puppy chow is probably something that you are wondering right now.

It really can be a simple difference in semantics or definition. You can call this snack mix what you want to call it.

Muddy Buddy and Puppy Chow are pretty much two names for the same or similar snack mix recipe.

Both are based upon using a certain square shaped cereal that is topped or combined with other ingredients. Also, both are names for a popular snack which has so many ways of preparing and enjoying it.
