Tips for making cookies with candy bars.

My cookies were made with Snickers candy bars as they have caramel, nuts, and chocolate in them. You can really use the candy bar of your choice.

    More tips for you

    1. Sometimes caramel can melt faster than other ingredients in the candy bar. If you are using candy bars with caramel, first chop the bar up into chunks and then freeze the chunks before adding them to the cookie batter to slow down the melting.
    2. My cookies were made with butter that is at room temperature for better blending. You can however melt your butter for a more chewy cookie.
    3. Refrigerating the cookie dough can help keep the cookies from spreading too much while baking and can also help keep the candy chunks more intact while baking. If you decide to refrigerate your cookie dough, it is a good idea to first use a cookie scoop to form the cookies as it can be a difficult task when the dough is hard from being cold.

Ingredients needed to make tasty candy bar cookies.

    • Flour. All purpose flour was used to make my cookies. If you use an alternative flour, such as gluten free flour, it should measure and bake like all purpose.
    • Baking Soda. A small amount is used for leavening the cookies.
    • Butter. My cookies were made with softened butter. If you decide to use melted butter, it should be cooled to room temperature first. Also, if you are using unsalted butter, add a half teaspoon of salt to the flour.
    • Brown sugar and granulated sugar. Added for sweetening the cookies. Feel free to adjust this as needed if you are using an especially sweet candy bar.
    • Vanilla Extract. Used as a flavor balance.
    • Egg. The egg and the egg yolk should be at room temperature. The yolk make this cookie a softer or chewy cookie.
    • Chocolate Chips. Mini chocolate chips work best as there are also chocolate candy bar chunks in the cookies too.
    • Candy Bar. You will need one cup of chopped candy bar(s). You can use one kind of candy (such as Snickers) or a variety for more flavors. Chop the candy bar into pieces that are uniform in size so that they will mix evenly in the dough.

Expert Tip👉 Candy bar cookies are the perfect cookie to make especially when you have leftover candy from Halloween or a gathering such as a party.

How to make Easy Candy Bar Cookies

    Servings: makes about 24 cookies
    Prep: 15 Minutes
    Bake: 12 Minutes

Step One: prepare the ingredients for making Snickers candy cookies.

Chop the candy into uniform sized chunks. If your candy bar is soft in the center (Snickers, 3 Musketeers, etc.) refrigerate the candy bar first. This will make it easier to handle and to cop up. Also, preheat your oven to 350 and prep your baking sheet(s) for nonstick (a baking mat or parchment paper work well in this recipe).

Step Two: make the cookie batter.

    • In a medium sized bowl, use whisk to combine together the flour and baking soda.
    • Next, in a large mixing bowl, beat together the butter, sugars, and vanilla until smooth and creamy. Then stir in the eggs.
    • Add the dry ingredients from the first bowl to the large mixing bowl and mix until just combined.
    • Lastly, use a rubber spatula to fold in the chocolate chips and chopped candy bar pieces.

Step Three: finish making the cookies.

Use a cookie scoop to scoop up the dough and place the cookies at least an inch and a half apart on the baking sheet as these cookies will spread. Then bake the cookies for 10-12 minutes or until they turn golden brown. After removing the cookies from the oven, transfer them to a wire cooling rack to finish cooling.

Expert Tip 👉 Store the cooled cookies in an airtight container. If properly stored, these cookies should keep for about a week at room temperature or a couple of weeks when refrigerated. The cookie dough can also be frozen.
