How to make the best crescent roll pigs in a blanket.

Crescent roll dough sheets are used as it offers us a simple shortcut for making this recipe because the dough is premade. You can alternatively use a similar refrigerator dough or puff pastry to make this recipe.

    More tips for you

    1. Make these appetizers in advance. Simply wrap the sausages in the dough and refrigerate in an airtight container. When you are ready to make your piggies, you can add the egg wash and seasoning before baking these.
    2. Do you have to use sausage to make this recipe? No. You can use anything that has a similar shape, such as mini-hot dogs or even a vegan alternative.
    3. It is a good idea to pat the sausages dry with a clean kitchen towel before wrapping them in the dough. If they are wet it can affect the dough and make it hard for it to stick to the sausage.
    4. Not a fan of everything bagel seasoning? Simply substitute your favorite seasoning instead.

What is needed to make pigs in a blanket.

This is a simple recipe that is made with just four ingredients.

To make this you will need:

    • Crescent dough sheets. If you are unable to find the dough sheets, you can use the traditional crescents and pinch the seams together to create one large rectangle.
    • Mini Sausages. Or, cocktail hot dogs will work.
    • Egg Wash This is made by combining together a beaten egg with a small amount of water.
    • Everything Bagel Seasoning . While I am a fan of the Trader Joe version, you can also use similar seasoning.

Expert Tip 👉 An egg wash is used to give the bread a golden and shiny finish. In this recipe it also helps to hold the seasoning on the crescent dough outside.
