What makes Hamburger Pie so good?

Hamburger pie, sometimes referred to as Impossible Cheeseburger Pie, is an easy and comforting dish that is like a cheeseburger transformed into a cozy casserole.

I like that this recipe takes about 10 minutes to put together and can be refrigerated until you are ready to bake it.

Have you tried my recipe for Easy Mexican Breakfast Casserole Recipe

That Mexican breakfast casserole is a savory Mexican inspired twist on the usual warm egg and sausage casserole. Both this recipe for Hamburger Pie and that recipe for Breakfast Casserole are easy to make comfort foods that are made with common ingredients.

Bisquick is an all-purpose baking mix that is used in this recipe. You can find a variety of all-purpose baking mixes, such as Bisquick or a gluten free version, here.

What you need to make Hamburger Pie with Bisquick

    • Ground Beef Lean ground beef (85%–90%) is preferred.
    • Onion Chopped into small pieces.
    • Cheddar Cheese Freshly shredded. I like sharp for this recipe but, you can use the cheddar of your choice.
    • Baking Mix Such as Bisquick baking and pancake mix.
    • Milk. Whole milk will give this dish a better texture and moisture.
    • Eggs. Large eggs at room temperature.
    • Seasonings. Such as Salt and Pepper.

    • How to serve : This hamburger pie can be served about any time of the day, from brunch to dinner.
    • Notes: You will need a large skillet, pie plate (9"), and a mixing bowl with a whisk.

    1. Prepare. Prep your pie plate for nonstick (such as nonstick spray). Also, preheat your oven to 400°F
    2. Beef. In a skillet over medium heat, cook your ground beef until browned. Then drain the meat and add in any seasonings such as salt and pepper.
    3. Layer. Evenly spread the browned ground beef over the bottom of your prepared pie plate. Then evenly sprinkle the cheddar cheese on top.
    4. Baking Mix. Place your baking mix into a mixing bowl and use your whisk to break up any lumps. Then add the milk and eggs to the baking mix and mix until just combined.
    5. Bake. Pour the mixture from the mixing bowl over the ingredients in the pie plate. Then bake the pie for 25-30 minutes or until a knife inserted into the center comes out clean.
    6. Rest. Allow the pie to rest at room temperature for five minutes to set. Then slice and serve the pie.

Tips for making the best Bisquick Cheeseburger Pie.

My cheeseburger pie was made with ground beef. You can alternatively use ground turkey or chicken, as long as it has been fully cooked.

    More helpful tips for you.

    1. Make sure that you drain the cooked meat well as excess liquid can make the pie soggy. I like to allow my ground beef to drain on a stack of clean paper towels for example.
    2. When mixing the Bisquick with the other ingredients, mix until just combined as overmixing can make your pie tough. Small lumps are fine as they will most likely bake out.
    3. Allowing the pie to rest before serving is an important step. This allows the filling to fully set which will result in cleaner slices.

How to Store Impossible Cheeseburger Pie.

Once your cheeseburger pie has fully cooled it can be stored in an airtight container. When properly stored, it should keep for up to a few days refrigerated or frozen for up to a few months.
