Easy Cake Mix Chocolate Chunk Cookies

Adding cake mix to these cookies really makes these cookies better than the average chocolate chip cookies.

Even better, these cookies are kind of like a cross between cake and chocolate chip cookies, making dessert choices even easier!

Did you my listing of 50 Unique Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipes?

That listing for chocolate chip cookies includes sugar free, vegan, gluten free, and more chocolate chip cookies! This recipe is not listed in that listing but, is unique and tasty.

To make these cookies you will need a box of cake mix. You can find a variety of cake mixes here.

Why use cake mix to make cookies?

Adding cake mix to cookie batter can really be a great idea.
It is an idea that I often use.

▶ Cake mix already has the dry ingredients already measured and ready to go.
    Also,
▶ Cake mix comes with added flavors that can make cookie enjoyable.
▶ Lastly, cake mix can save you a lot of time when you are in a pinch and would like some freshly baked cookies.

How do you use cake mix to make cookies?

Well, as you may know, cake mix is used to make cakes.
If you were to make the cake mix as is and placed dollops on to a baking sheet for baking, you would have a mess as the cake mix batter is relatively thin when compared to cookie dough.

However, using cake mix to bake cookies is possible when you make a few adjustments. Most notably, you would need to adjust your wet ingredients to make the mix into a 'dough' rather than into a 'batter'.

Tips for making cake mix cookies.

I like to use a 'super moist' cake mix for these cookies.
This helps the cookies avoid drying out too much in the oven.

    More tips for you

    1. If your cookie dough seems to be too thin to work with, try placing it into the refrigerator for about 10 minutes. This will help make the cookie dough easier to work with.
    2. After placing the cake mix into the mixing bowl, use a whisk to give the dry mix a quick stir. This will help break up any lumps that are usually present in cake mix.
    3. These cookies are done when the sides begin to turn golden brown. After taking them out of the oven, allow them to sit on the warm baking sheet to finish for a minute or so before transferring them to a cooling rack.

    Personalize your cake mix cookies.

These cookies are so yummy and easy just the way they are.
However, you can make yours even better.

    Try one of these ideas.

    • My cookies made using yellow cake mix. You can really use about any cake mix to make yours.
    • Add some nuts to your cookies for a crunchy element.
    • I have used chocolate chunks in my cookies. You can skip the chocolate or simply use chocolate chips if desired.
    • When your cookies have fully cooled, make an ice cream sandwich or two with your cake mix cookies!
