What does adding pudding mix do to cookies?
We are adding dry pudding mix to this recipe to add moisture and flavor to the cookies. In general, adding pudding mix to cookie dough can create a more uniform texture and appearance in the cookies as a whole, giving them a consistent and appealing look.
Instant pudding mix adds to the texture of the cookies.
Thanks to the starches and gelatin in the pudding mix, cookies become slightly denser with a smoother and more tender texture. Also pudding mix can help thicken the cookie dough, which can prevent the cookies from spreading too much during baking.
Tips for making the best funfetti cookies.
Make sure that you are using instant pudding mix rather than a regular pudding mix. The difference between regular pudding mix and instant pudding mix is that instant pudding mix is pre-gelatinized, meaning that the starch has already been cooked and dissolved in liquid.
More tips for you.
- Using room temperature dairy ingredients (butter and eggs) is essential in this recipe. This is because when the ingredients are at room temperature they are allowed to blend evenly with the other ingredients.
- While not an actual step in making these cookies, you could chill the cookie dough before scooping it out to make the cookies. Chilling the dough can help make the cookies even more fluffy.
- I like to refrigerate or freeze my sprinkles before using them in a recipe such as this one. This helps prevent the color spread that you see in many similar cookie recipes that also have sprinkles in them.
