    The beverage is kind of like cream soda mixed with butterscotch.

    What you may want to know is that butterbeer does not have actual beer in it.

    How to make butterscotch sauce.

    You can use store bought butterscotch sauce or make your own. To make your own you will need heavy cream (⅓ cup), brown sugar (⅓ cup), Butter (3 tablespoons), and Vanilla Extract (½ teaspoon).

    Here is how to make the sauce.

    • In a saucepan on medium heat, combine together the heavy cream, brown sugar and butter.
    • Whisk this for 10 seconds and then allow it to cook for two minutes before turning the heat down to medium-low.
    • Once the sauce has thickened to a good consistency (about 10-15 minutes, whisking as needed) you can remove it from the heat and whisk in your vanilla extract.
    • Allow the sauce to cool to room temperature.

    Ingredients needed to make no churn Butterbeer Ice Cream

    • Heavy Cream. The heavy cream should be cold.
    • Sweetened condensed milk. For the ice cream base.
    • Pure vanilla extract.. Imitation vanilla extract does not work as well in this recipe.
    • Butterscotch Syrup. Homemade or prepared can be used.
    • Butterscotch Chips. These chips add both flavor and texture to this recipe.
    • Mini Chocolate Chips. Chocolate chips really add to the flavor and the appearance of this ice cream.

    How to make Butterbeer Ice Cream

    Prep Time: 10 mins
    Freeze time: 6-8 hours
    Total: 8 hours

    Step One: prepare.

    Line your loaf pan with parchment paper if desired. If you are making homemade butterscotch sauce, do so and then allow it to cool to room temperature.

    Step Two: make the cream.

    1. In mixing bowl, with a mixer outfitted with a whisk attachment, whisk the heavy cream until soft peaks just begin to form. Do not over-whisk to the point of firm peaks.
    2. Meanwhile, in a smaller bowl, mix the sweetened condensed milk, vanilla extract and ¼ cup butterscotch syrup together until combined.
    3. Next, gently fold in half of the butterscotch mixture from the second bowl into the whipped cream from the mixing bowl.

    Expert tip👉 Chill the mixing bowl in your refrigerator before whipping the cream for a better whipped cream texture.

    Step Three: Finish making the ice cream.

    1. Pour half of the mixture from the last step into the prepared loaf pan.
    2. Place the chips (both butterscotch and the chocolate chips) over the mixture in the pan.
    3. Now drizzle half of the butterscotch syrup over the chips.
    4. Repeat this process with the remaining. (add the remaining cream mixture then top with the chips and then syrup).
    5. Transfer the ingredients to a loaf pan and cover with plastic or similar wrap. The place the loaf pan into the freezer for at least six hours, preferably overnight.
