When combined together, the two parts resemble what a melted snowman might look like.

  2. Certainly you can use ingredients to make the details on your snowman. Think cookie icing or candies for example.

About this recipe for melted snowman cookies made with cake mix.

This is a simple recipe for making cookies with a 'melted snowman' on top.
The cookie portion of this recipe is made with packaged cake mix.

While any cake mix can be used, my cookies were made with a vanilla cake mix.

The melted snowman is made with white chocolate melting wafers and marshmallows.
Details are made with various candies and icing.

Ingredients needed to make melted snowman cookies.

Note that the cake mix will be used dry in this recipe. This means that you do not need the ingredients that are needed to actually make the cake using the cake mix.

  • Vanilla Cake Mix. My cookies were made with a 15 ounce box.
  • Butter. The butter should be melted.
  • Eggs. The eggs should be at room temperature.
  • White Chocolate Chips. Added to the cake batter to make the cookies.
  • White chocolate melting wafers. Used to make the melted snow.
  • Marshmallows. This will be the head of the snowman.
  • Mini chocolate chips. Small mini candies can alternatively be used.
  • Orange sprinkles or a small piece of carrot can be used for the nose.
  • Red Licorice for the scarf.
  • Pretzel sticks are used for the arms.
  • Mini candies used for the buttons.

How to make Melted Snowman Cake Mix Cookies

Servings: 20 cookies
Preparation: 20 minutes
Bake time: 10 minutes

Step One: make the cookies.

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 and prepare two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Place the cake mix in a mixing bowl (stand mixer) and use a fork or whisk to break up any lumps. Then add the melted butter and eggs.
  3. Using a flat beater attachment, beat the mixture until just combined on low.
  4. Fold in the white chocolate chips.
  5. Use a 1 ½" cookie scoop to scoop on to the prepared baking sheets, spaced two to three inches apart (these cookies need space!).
  6. Bake the cookies until the sides start to turn golden brown and the tops are just set (eight to ten minutes).
  7. However, allow the cookies to fully cool on a rack.

Step Two: make the heads.

As the cookies bake, you can also get started on making the snowman heads.

  1. While the cookies are cooling you can start the marshmallow heads. Line a rimmed baking sheet or work are with parchment paper that you can use to set your marshmallow heads on to set.
  2. Melt five of the white chocolate wafers (about one tablespoon melted) .
  3. Use a toothpick or skewer to place small dots of melted chocolate on to the marshmallows for the eyes, nose, and mouth. Then, quickly add the tiny chocolate chips and orange sprinkles before the white chocolate dries.

Step Three: finish putting the cookies together.

Once the cookies have fully cooled and the marshmallow heads have set you can start putting the cookies together.

Melt the remaining white chocolate wafers according the the directions on the packaging.

Place a half tablespoon or so of melted chocolate on top of the cookies to look like melted snow. Then attach the marshmallow head on to of the melted white chocolate Lastly, attach the pretzel arms, buttons, and licorice scarf.

Let the chocolate set for 10-20 minutes before serving. However, to speed it up, you can also place the cookies into your refrigerator to set.
