Adult sized socks work best as a result. - My gnome was made using a hot glue gun. You could use another glue, such as craft or tacky glue, if you do not mind waiting for it to dry.
- While this craft idea is suitable for most ages, some folks may need assistance with some of the steps. This is especially true with the cutting and gluing.

Materials used to make this gnome can be found at a dollar or discount store.

We will start by covering the base of the cone with a sock to make the body,
Then we will work our way up the gnome to make the head details.
Lastly, we will give our gnomes a hat.
Materials needed to make a sock gnome.
- Foam Cone. The cone should be 2.75 inches wide and six inches tall (standard size for crafts and floral).
- Christmas themed Sock. Adult sized works best. This will be the gnome's hat.
- Crew Sock. My gnome uses a gray adult sized crew sock.
- Small wooden craft ball. This will be the nose for the gnome.
- Craft Faux fur fabric. Obviously used to cover the face.
- You will also need a scissors, hot glue gun and glue sticks.
How to make a No Sew Holiday Sock Gnome
Step One: Make the body.
The body is made by covering the cone with the crew sock.
- Start by cutting the crew sock right above the heel.
- Turn the cone upside down and pull the sock over the wide end of the cone, centering the crease of the toe line over the end and working it over the cone.
- Secure the crew sock to the cone by gluing around the inside of the sock where you made the cut in step one, then gluing the sock to the cone as needed.
Next, Step Two: Make the beard
- Carefully cut the a strip of faux fur that is 5X2.5".
- Trim the bottom of the fur to an angle, leaving about an inch wide center.
- Glue the backside of the top of the faux fur to the top of the crew sock that you glued on to the gnome.
Step Three: Add the hat and nose.
- To make the hat, cut the Christmas themed sock right above the heel.
- You can discard the lower heel and toe part of the sock.
- Next, pull or fit the sock over the top of the cone, somewhat overlapping the crew sock.
- Apply hot glue to the inside of the Christmas sock, gluing it on to the crew sock.
- To fit the hat to the cone, cut a slit down the backside of the Christmas sock, then make small diagonal cuts on each side as needed to remove excess material.
- Next, glue the Christmas sock to the cone, shaping it however as needed.
- Lastly, glue the wooden ball to the center of the beard for the nose.
