    This recipe should be made in a large slow cooker that like a six quart slow cooker as there are a lot of ingredients that go into it. If you use a smaller slow cooker consider cutting the recipe in half.

    1. Frozen blueberries can be used in this recipe. It is best to use the blueberries without thawing them out first as thawed out blueberries can bleed out into the batter.
    2. French bread was used to make my toast. Good alternative bread that can be used include Challah or Brioche.
    3. My French toast was made with blueberries. You can however use any berry of your choice with or instead of the blueberries.

    • Just before serving, dust the French toast with powdered sugar and add a dollop of whipped cream on the side.

    Ingredients needed to make Easy slow cooked French toast.

    • French Bread. Your bread should be sliced into 1 ½" wide slices.
    • Brown Sugar. While brown sugar works well in this recipe, regular granular sugar could also work.
    • Ground Cinnamon. This adds a nice flavor accent to this recipe.
    • Butter. If you are using unsalted butter, you can add a half teaspoon of salt with the eggs. You butter should be melted.
    • Blueberries. Use frozen blueberries to prevent your French toast from turning blue 😉.
    • Eggs. Room temperature eggs will mix better with the other ingredients.
    • Milk. Whole milk will make a more lush French toast however, you can use the milk of your choice.
    • Vanilla Extract. This adds the perfect flavor balance to this recipe.

    Expert Tip👉 Day old stale bread is often the best kind of bread to use in a recipe such as this one! This is because it will hold up better.

    How to make Slow Cooker Blueberry French Toast

    Prep: 10 minutes
    Yield: 8 servings

    Step One: prepare.

    Slice your bread into 1 ½" wide slices. Prep your slow cooker for nonstick as desired. Nonstick spray or a liner can work in this recipe.

    Expert Tip👉 While my toast is sliced for individual servings, you can alternatively slice your bread into chunks or cubes. Smaller bites can work best with the younger crowd or those with small appetites.

    Step Two: assemble the ingredients.

    1. In a medium sized mixing bowl, combine together the brown sugar, ground cinnamon, and melted butter until completely blended. It will be sandy in appearance when blended. Then place about a quarter of this mixture over the bottom of your slow cooker.
    2. Place an even layer of sliced bread over the sandy mixture on the bottom of the slow cooker making sure that you cover any open gaps in the bread as needed with bread.
    3. Next, cover the layer of bread with a quarter of the butter and brown sugar mixture over the bread. You should have half of the brown sugar and butter mixture left after doing this.
    4. Top the brown sugar and butter layer with a quarter of the frozen blueberries.
    5. Repeat the layers twice in the same steps (2,3,4 above) , finishing with a layer of blueberries.
    6. In a large mixing bowl use a whisk to combine together the eggs, milk, vanilla, and optional salt, beating the ingredients until well blended. Then pour this egg mixture evenly and slowly over the bread, allowing the mixture to soak into the bread.
    7. Cover the layered ingredients are refrigerate for a minimum of one hour to, preferably, overnight.

    Expert Tip👉 Before turning on your slow cooker, check the manufacturer's directions as it may be a good idea to allow the slow cooker to get to room temperature before heating it.

    Step Three: finish making Blueberry French Toast.

    When you are ready to slow cook your French toast, take the crock/slow cooker out of the refrigerator. Cook the French toast until the bread has turn golden brown and the eggs have cooked fully (2 ½-3 hours on high or 4 to 4 ½ hours on low depending on your pot). Then allow the slow cooker to rest for 15 minutes prior to serving.

    Expert Tip👉 Leftovers should be stored and refrigerated for up to three days. Let it sit out for a few minutes at room temperature before microwaving to heat it up.
