You will also need a couple of simple yet, helpful tools.
A baking syringe will make it easy for you to transfer the ingredients to smaller molds for freezing.
Also, a pourable cup can be used if you are using a larger mold.
Ingredients needed to make homemade frozen pet treats.
- Blueberries- ¾ cup, fresh is preferred.
- Coconut Oil- 4 tablespoons.
- Fresh Thyme- 2 tablespoons minced or chopped.
How to make Blueberry Thyme Frozen Dog Treats.
- Step one- Place your silicon mold on a small plate or flat surface with a rim that can be placed in a freezer.
- Step two- In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the coconut oil (20-30 seconds). Then use the food syringe or pourable cup to transfer the melted coconut oil to each paw print (or whatever mold you have chosen to use) about 1 teaspoon in each. Freeze until hard (about 20 minutes).
- Step three- Remove the frozen mold(s) from the freezer. In a blender, blend the blueberries until they are in liquid form. Transfer the blueberries to the paw molds using the method that you used with the melted coconut oil. Fill each paw mold until full. Then sprinkle the minced thyme on top.
- Step four- transfer the molds back to the freezer until frozen (about an hour and a half should work). You can store the treats unmolded in the freezer for up to two months if kept in a sealed container such as a zip top bag.
