Tips for making chocolate covered popcorn.

Both stovetop and microwave popcorn work with this recipe as long as it is freshly made.
I would suggest that you use plain popcorn so that you can control the taste with the ingredients that you are adding.

    More tips for you

    1. Make this recipe like a "Moose" popcorn. Simply use caramel corn instead or in addition to the plain popcorn.
    2. If you use a microwave to melt the chocolate, I suggest that you stop the microwave to stir every 30 seconds. This will aid in evenly melting the chocolate.
    3. Stirring in a bit of oil or coconut oil with the melted chocolate can help smooth it out. I would not however use more than one or two teaspoons.

Personalize this tasty chocolate covered corn even better.

This is both a fun and tasty treat idea just the way it is.
But, you can also make yours taste even better.
    Try one of these ideas.

    • Add some nuts or pretzels for a bit of extra salty crunch.
    • Top this with Valentine Skittles or Valentine M & M's before serving.
    • Season your popcorn with an Everything Seasoning.

How to make Valentines Day Candy Coated Popcorn.

    Step One: prep.

Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper.
    Pop the popcorn as directed.
Evenly spread the popcorn over the prepped baking sheet, removing as many un-popped kernels as possible.
You can add nuts or other optional solid ingredients (not meltable) at this time.

    Step Two: melt the chocolate.

Start by melting the pink candy melts. I melt mine using a microwave safe bowl in the microwave. Stop the microwave every 30 seconds to stir the melting chocolate so that it melts evenly. It should take about a minute and a half to fully melt.
Use a large spoon to drizzle half of the melted pink chocolate over the popcorn. Toss the popcorn and drizzle the remaining pink chocolate and then tossing again. Allow this to set, about 20 minutes.

Step Three: top the chocolate covered popcorn.

Add any optional candy or similar optional ingredient to the popcorn.
Then melt the white chocolate using the same method as above. You can use a piping bag, a zip top bag with a corner cut out, or large spoon to drizzle this over the popcorn (do not toss). Repeat this with the red chocolate melts.

Top with sprinkles and allow the popcorn to set for another 20 minutes before serving.
This popcorn can be stored in an air-tight container at room temperature for about five days.
