    • Refried Beans. Using canned refried beans makes this recipe even easier to make.
    • Sour Cream. A creamy flavored dip can be used instead.
    • Southwestern Seasoning. You can use the southwestern seasoning blend of your choice.
    • Guacamole. Homemade or store bought.
    • Salsa. Chunky salsa works best because of its texture.
    • Cheese. Shredded cheddar and colby were used in my dip.
    • Black Olives. The black olives should be sliced.
    • Green Onion. Chopped.
    • Garnish - diced tomatoes, sliced jalapenos peppers, and/or chopped cilantro can be used.

    Tips for making the best seven layer dip.

    Evenly spreading out the layers can help to keep them intact. The heaviest layer, the refried beans, are on the bottom and can be easily spread out using the backside of a spoon.

    1. Shredded cheddar cheese and colby cheese were used to make my dip. You can use the cheese(s) of your choice.
    2. A southwestern seasoning blend was used to season my layered dip with. You can easily substitute in another seasoning such as taco seasoning.
    3. When combining your seasonin with the sour cream, taste the mixture and make adjustments as desired.
    4. For a creamier layer you can substitute in softened cream cheese for the sour cream.
    5. This kind of dip is commonly served with tortilla chips, celery, or corn chips.
    6. Layered dip is best when refrigerated before serving to that the layers can set.

    How to make 7 Layer Southwestern Dip

    Prep Time: 10 minutes .
    Refrigerate Time: 30 minutes .
    Servings: 8 .
    This recipe was made in an 8X8" baking dish.

    1. Bean Layer. Use a spoon to evenly distribute the refried beans on the bottom of your baking dish. Then flip the spoon over and use the backside to press the bean layer in place if needed.
    2. Sour Cream. In a small bowl, use a whisk or a fork to blend together your sour cream with your seasoning. Then evenly spread this layer over your beans.
    3. Guacamole. Place dollops of the guacamole over the sour cream and then evenly distribute the guacamole .
    4. Cheese. Sprinkle your shredded cheese over the guacamole.
    5. Top Layer. Sprinkle the black olives, green onion pieces, diced tomatoes, and optional ingredients on top of the cheese.
    6. Set. Loosely cover the dip with plastic wrap or a similar item and refrigerate the dip for at least 30 minutes for the dip to set.

    • 16 oz Refried Beans
    • 1½ cup Sour Cream
    • 2 tbsp Southwestern Seasoning.
    • 1½ cups Guacamole
    • 2 cups Salsa. --Chunky
    • 1 cup Cheddar Cheese --shredded
    • 1 cup Colby --shredded
    • ½ cup Black Olives --sliced
    • ½ cup Green Onion. --Chopped. diced tomatoes sliced jalapenos peppers, and/or chopped cilantro can be used.
    • 1 Tomato --diced
    • 1 tbsp Cilantro -- chopped

    Instructions
