According to fiction, or the 'story', Frankenstein was created in a lab in an effort to create a person from folks who had passed on.
These days, Frankenstein has evolved.
Frankenstein has become a popular fictional monster who is depicted during Halloween as a costume or decoration.
Clay pot have many uses beyond holding plants.
They are also relatively inexpensive which makes clay pot crafting even better (imo).
What you should know is that before you start crafting with the pot, it should be clean, dry, and free of any debris or stickers. Then you can paint and decorate your clay pot according the the directions for your project.
Tips for making a Halloween inspired Clay Pot
My Frankenstein pot was made using a 3.5” clay pot and a 3” in diameter saucer. Feel free to use the sizes of your choice however, make sure that you are using a pot an saucer that will fit together like mine for best results.
More tips for you
- Hot glue really works best at getting everything to stick quickly. However, you can use a tacky or craft glue instead if you can wait for it to dry.
- There is a bit of painting that needs to get done for this project. Make sure that the paint gets fully dry before going on to the next step.
- If you have issues with the googly eyes staying in place, try attaching a clear water bottle cap to the pot first and then glue the eyes on to that
- While this project is suitable for most ages, some folks may need a bit of assistance as needed. This is especially true with the painting and gluing.

About this Flower Pot Frankenstein Monster Craft
This is a simple do it yourself craft idea for turning a clay pot into a piece of cute monster. While this is a 'simple' craft idea, some folks may need assistance (gluing, painting, etc).
To make this project we will first paint the clay pot and the saucer.
After the paint has dried, we will glue on the eyes and the finials. Then we will add the finishing touches.
Materials needed to make this Flower Pot Frankenstein DIY Craft
- Clay Pot. 3.5 inch diameter.
- Saucer for a Clay Pot - 3 inch diameter.
- Acrylic Craft Paint – Green, Black, Grey, Pink
- Googly Eyes. Some folks call these 'wiggly eyes'.
- Craft Foam. Black.
- Wooden Finials. Use the small dowel sized ones.
- Also needed, Glue Gun and Glue Sticks, Permanent Black Marker,Scissors,Paintbrush, and Pencil with new Eraser.
How to make Flower Pot Frankenstein DIY Craft
Step One: prepare and paint.
- Gather all materials and then remove the packaging and labels
- Start by painting the 2.5” clay pot with green acrylic craft paint. When it dries apply a second coat if needed.
- Next, Paint the clay pot saucer with black acrylic craft paint. Let the paint dry and apply a second coat, if needed.
- Lastly, paint the two small wooden finials with grey acrylic craft paint. Let paint dry and apply a second coat, if necessary.
Step two: make the main details.
- On the rim of the clay pot, paint a zig zag border with black acrylic craft paint for the hair.
- For the eyes, glue on the googly eyes, with the top of the eyes about a half inch under the rim.
- Using the craft foam, cut a rectangle that is just wider than the eyes and long enough to reach from the rim of the pot to the top quarter of the eyes.
- Glue the foam in place so that it overlaps the eyes.
Expert Tip👉 You can use an alternative glue, such as a tacky or craft glue if you have concerns about using a hot glue gun. Just be sure to allow the glue to full set.
Step Three: Finish the project.
- For the cheeks, by dabbing a new pencil eraser in pink craft paint and stamping on the right and left sides, just below the eyes.
- Next, attach the grey wooden finials to the right and left sides of Frankenstein’s neck.
- Lastly, with the black marker, draw a mouth from cheek to cheek. Then add a (XXXXX) scar.
