Malted milk balls are chopped up and added in with the chocolate chips, making these cookies even better!

Did you try my Monster M&M Candy Cookies?

That is a similar recipe to this cookie recipe as it also uses a popular candy. Both this malted milk cookie and that monster cookies would go nicely when served together!

To make this recipe you will need malted milk balls that you can chop up. You can find a selection of malted milk balls here.

    What is malted milk?

Malted milk refers to the dry ingredients used to make milk shakes and more.
It is usually made with evaporated milk, barley, and wheat flour.

When combined with milk, the result is a malted milk shake.
However, when combined with sugar, you get the inside of the popular malted milk ball candy.

What does malted milk taste like?

Well, when it is a milk shake, malted milk is a thick and filling beverage that is full of flavor. That flavor has been described as a 'sweet and nutty' flavor.

Since we are using a small amount of malted milk powder in this cookie recipe, the malted milk adds a delicious sweet yet, distinct flavor that certainly complements the chocolate candy chunks added to these cookies.

Tips for making malted milk cookies.

Malted milk ball chips do not exist which means that you will need to chop up the candy. When you do this, be very careful as the candy is round and can roll.

    More tips for you.

    1. Melted butter is used to give these cookies that soft soft center. If you are not a fan of the soft centered cookie, you can use softened to room temperature butter and less of it as well.
    2. My cookies were made using chocolate chunks from a bar as well. You can use chocolate chips instead if you desire.
    3. Malted milk powder is an optional ingredient that was used to make these cookies. The malted milk powder really lends to the authentic taste in every bite.

    Personalize your malted milk cookies.

These cookies are so yummy just the way they are.
You can however, take yours up a notch.

    Try one of these ideas.

    • Add some chopped nuts such as macadamia nuts.
    • Use holiday colored malted milk balls instead of the standard kind.
    • Use an extract other than vanilla extract, such as maple extract.
