Frequently asked questions about Oreo Cookies.

    What are Oreo Cookies?

By now you know that Oreo cookies are sandwich cookies.
That is, two crunchy wafer cookies stuck together with a sweet fondant filling holding them together.

Standard Oreo cookies are black and white. That is, the crunchy cookies are black and the fondant filling is white. However, Oreos can come in different colors including the limited-edition versions of Oreo cookies, such as holiday season, fall inspired cookies , or flavored filling such as mint or peanut butter.

What makes Oreo Cookies so popular?

Certainly this cookie is a favorite as it is enjoyed around the world. It is also used in many recipes.

Here are some more reasons why these cookies are so popular.

    • Oreo cookies are easily recognizable because of their color and branding.
    • These cookies have been around for over a hundred years, making them nostalgic for most us.
    • Oreo cookies have a unique flavor, thanks to the layers, that other cookies may have been inspired by.
    • There are a variety of ways to enjoy the versatility of these cookies from dipping them in milk or 'untwisting' them to eat them.
    • The branding and marketing of the cookie over the years has been memorable.

    Tips for making oreo cake.

When selecting a cake mix, select a better quality mix such as a moist chocolate cake mix. A moist cake works even better with the instant pudding that is used in the poke holes.

    More tips for you

    1. You can use a skewer, chopstick, or the end of a wooden spoon to make your poke holes in your cake. The secret to making a well-balanced cake is to poke the holes uniformly and evenly distributed throughout the cake.
    2. When whipping up your heavy cream and sugar for the frosting it is important that the bowl and the beaters are both clean of everything (liquid and debris). Even better, refrigerating the bowl and beaters for best results.
    3. This cake should be stored in an airtight container or wrapped well. If properly stored, it should keep for a few days refrigerator or a couple of months when frozen.

How to make Oreo and Pudding Cake Even Better.

This cake really is amazing just the way it is.
You can however make yours even better.

    Try one of these ideas.

    • Use seasonal Oreos during the holiday season for a more festive cake.
    • While my cake is made with chocolate cake mix, you can use another cake mix such as White Cake Mix or Oreo Cake Mix.
    • Use a different kind of sandwich cookie with or instead of the famous one used in this recipe.

How to Make this Easy Oreo Poke Cake Recipe

    Servings:12.
Prep Time: About 40 Minutes, depending on the cake.

Once chilled, your Oreo poke cake is ready to serve! Simply slice the cake into squares and enjoy the moist and luscious layers of chocolate cake, creamy pudding, and delightful Oreo cookie pieces.

    Step One: bake the cake.

Bake the cake in a 9x13-inch baking dish according to the directions on the packaging until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. While the cake is baking, you can prepare the pudding as directed using the cold milk. Then refrigerate the prepared pudding until your cake has fully cooled and you are ready to use it.

Step Two: poke the cake and fill the holes.

    • When the cake is done baking you can remove it from the oven and let it cool for a five minutes in the baking dish.
    • Using the end of a wooden spoon or your tool of choice, poke holes, about halfway deep and evenly distributed through the baked cake.
    • Pour the prepared pudding over the cake so that the pudding seeps into the poke holes (you can use a rubber spatula or spoon to help guide the pudding).
    • Lastly, sprinkle the crushed Oreo cookies over the pudding layer, spreading the cookies as evenly as possible.

Expert Tip 👉 For a more chewy cake, you can refrigerate it for about a half hour before poking the holes in it to firm it up.

Step Three: finish making the cake

To make the frosting, beat the heavy whipping cream with the powdered sugar until stiff peaks form. Then use a frosting spatula or similar item to top your cake with it. You can top your cake with additional cookies and toppings, such as chocolate sauce, of choice.

Expert Tip 👉 Refrigerate your Oreo poke cake for at least three hours before serving to allow the flavors to meld and the cake to set.
