What you will read about in this recipe.
What makes hot chocolate fudge so good?
Hot chocolate fudge is the perfect marriage of rich and creamy fudge with the flavors of hot chocolate- including the marshmallows.
I like that this is an easy not bake recipe that about everyone can agree on.
Have you tried my recipe for Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Fudge
That simple fudge recipe tastes like buttery homemade chocolate chip cookies. Both this recipe for hot chocolate fudge and that recipe for cookie fudge are quick and easy no-bake recipes that taste great too!
Hot chocolate packet mix gives these fudgy treats their special flavor. You can find hot chocolate mix packets here.

What you need to make fudge that tastes like hot chocolate.
- Chocolate Chips. Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips and Milk Chocolate Chips make this recipe especially fudgy.
- Butter. Softened to room temperature.
- Sweetened Condensed Milk Needed to give this fudge that fudgy texture.
- Hot Chocolate Mix. Use just the dry packets and not the other ingredients needed to actually make the hot chocolate.
- Vanilla Extract You could use another extract such as peppermint extract in this recipe.
- Miniature Marshmallows. Use fresh marshmallows for best results.

How to make Homemade Hot Chocolate Fudge
- Prep Time: 20 Minutes .
- Servings: 20, depending on how it is cut .
- How to Serve: Serve cut into squares.
- Notes: You will need a baking dish or pan, parchment paper, and a microwave-safe bowl (or double boiled) . My fudge was made in an 8x8" square baking dish. Since this is a no-bake recipe, it does not matter if you use a 'baking pan' or 'baking dish'.
- Prepare. Gather your ingredients as indicated. Line your baking pan (or dish) with parchment paper that overhangs the sides of the pan. Then give the parchment paper a quick spray with nonstick.
- Heat. In a large microwave-safe bowl, heat together the chocolate, chips butter, and sweetened condensed milk, stopping to stir every 30 seconds, until the ingredients are melted and smooth. Note that this step can also be done using the double boiler method.
- Hot Chocolate Mix Carefully remove the ingredients from the microwave and stir in the mix, one packet at a time, until combined. Then stir in the vanilla extract.
- Marshmallows. Use a rubber spatula or similar item to fold in three cups of the marshmallows.
- Transfer. Transfer the combined ingredients to your prepared pan from the first step and evenly spread the ingredients out using the backside of a spoon or your spatula. You can press in the remaining marshmallows to the top of the fudge at this time too.
- Set. Place the fudge in your refrigerator to fully set (about two to three hours). Then use the extended parchment paper to lift the fudge out of the pan and cut into squares.

Tips for making the best hot chocolate fudge.
Heating the ingredients is an important step in this recipe. Using a microwave to do this is a convenient way to heat the ingredients however, for more even heating, a double boiler is recommended.
More helpful tips for you.
- Make sure that you stop to stir the ingredients, as indicated, while they are heating. Not stirring the ingredients can make your fudge 'grainy' rather than smooth.
- For smaller but, more fudge pieces you can use a large pan. For large fudge pieces use a smaller pan.
- Optional add-ins for this recipe include holiday sprinkles or crushed peppermint candy. I would add these to the top of the fudge.

How to store homemade chocolate fudge.
Once the fudge has fully set and had been cut, it can be stored in an airtight container. When properly stored, fudge should keep for up to a week at room temperature, for up to a few weeks when refrigerated, or up to a few months when refrigerated. I would add a sheet of parchment paper between layers.
