Tips for making the best chow snack mix.

Using a variety of shapes and flavors is what can make a snack mix such as this one successful. The autumn inspired candy that is added makes this recipe festive for the season.

    More helpful ingredients.

    1. Using fresh ingredients is important in this recipe. This means that your cereal should be crisp and your fall candy should be soft and somewhat chewy rather than hard.
    2. Before adding in the candy, make sure that the melted ingredients have cooled enough to not melt the candy.
    3. For a blast of chocolate, spread your mix on a baking sheet and drizzle melted chocolate over it.
    4. To make this even more festive, sprinkle a teaspoon of pumpkin pie spice or cinnamon into the powdered sugar.
    5. Use a rubber spatula to carefully fold the ingredients to prevent crushing the cereal.
    6. Make this snack mix for about any season by switching out the candy that is added.

How to make Fall Puppy Chow Snack Mix

    Prep Time: 5 minutes .
    Cook Time: 2 minutes .
    Servings: 18 .

    1. Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper. Then set this aside while you make the puppy chow.
    2. In a microwave safe cup or bowl, place your chocolate chips, peanut butter, and butter. I like to give my cup a quick spray with nonstick first. Then melt the ingredients, stopping to stir every 20 seconds.
    3. Place the cereal into a large mixing bowl. Then carefully pour half of the melted ingredients over the cereal.
    4. Toss the ingredients in the bowl and then repeat the process using the remaining melted ingredients.
    5. Once the melted ingredients are cool to touch, you can toss in the candy. Then add the sugar and the cookie crumbs and toss until the ingredients are all coated.
    6. Transfer the ingredients to the baking sheet that you prepared in the first step, evenly spreading out the ingredients.
    7. Once the puppy chow has dried you can serve or transfer it to a container.

Expert Tip👉 Instead of combining all of your ingredients in a large mixing bowl (step 5) , you can transfer them to a large zip top bag mix. This is a great way to get little ones involved in this recipe!

    How to store puppy chow.

Once your puppy chow is cool and dry, your can transfer it to an airtight container. When properly stored, this puppy chow should keep for about a week at room temperature or frozen for up to a few months.
