Tips for making the best pumpkin dip.
Make sure that you are actually using 'pumpkin puree' and not pumpkin pie filling. 'Pumpkin pie filling' should not be used as this is an entirely different product that also (usually) needs to be cooked before consuming.
More helpful tips for you.
- Before adding the pumpkin puree to the mixing bowl, it is a good idea to drain off any excess water from the can as water can affect the texture of your dip.
- Use full fat cream cheese for the optimal creamy texture. For a 'healthier' version, you can sub in some Greek yogurt or use a lower fat cream cheese.
- Make sure that you are using powdered sugar rather than the granular or other versions. Powdered sugar will add to the texture while other sugars may not.
- Make this into a 'fluffy' dip by folding in some whipped topping. You can also beat the ingredients longer to introduce more air.
- While this dip is perfect for dipping your cookies etc into, this dip can also be transferred to a premade pie crust for a quick and easy dessert.
- For a frozen treat, try subbing in ice cream for some of the cream cheese or in addition to the cream cheese. (I have not tried this but, it sounds good.)
